How to :: Shorts this Summer

Carmen shares her favorite ways to wear shorts this Summer.

Summer has made it’s fashion drop in The Fold and we all know that it’s inevitable that the heat will start to seep in and our clients will be shopping for any clothing to help cool them off.

The trouble is, many of our customers aren’t comfortable wearing shorts. I understand because I feel this way most of the time, too.

I’m not sure if it’s because I can still hear the echo of the old Nair “We wear short shorts…” commercial in the back of my head every time I attempt a summer try on session or if it’s because most shorts borderline on “age appropriate” do + don’t fashion lists.

Either way, here are a few ways to feel comfortable, cool and classy wearing shorts June through August in the Midwest.

Wear a pair of dressy shorts with a blazer. This will transform the look into a suit:

Wear a matching fabric shorts + top set and style it to make it look like a romper:

Ulla Johnson Martim shorts + top

Wear a pair of shorts that have a “paper bag” waist.

You can choose to wear these higher or lower depending on the length of your torso and it will be more flattering to your bum, too:

Wear pleated high-waisted silk shorts that are cut like a high-waisted trouser pant:

Although it pains me to admit this, if the length of the short is appropriate and maybe a little shorter than you’re used to, it’s okay; the shorts will actually elongate the look of your legs. And, we love that!

Happy Summer, #foldbabes!

xxoo,

carmen
